Terms of service.

01 — Who we are

By placing an order on arhetyp.ro, you accept these terms.

02 — The contract

Browsing the shop does not constitute a contract. A contract is formed the moment we send you the order confirmation email after a successful payment. Until that email arrives, we may decline an order — for example if the item is out of stock, if delivery to your address is impractical, or if payment cannot be authorised.

03 — Prices

Prices are shown in the currency of your selected region and include VAT where applicable. We use the OSS (One-Stop-Shop) scheme for intra-EU sales: VAT is charged at the rate of the destination country and remitted via the Romanian tax authority. For shipments outside the EU, VAT and import duties are the buyer's responsibility.

Prices on the site override any older price quoted elsewhere. If a price is clearly wrong (e.g. €0.01 for an espresso machine), we may cancel the order and refund you in full — sorry for the inconvenience.

04 — Shipping & delivery

We roast on Tuesday and Friday. Orders placed before 18:00 the day before a roast are in the next batch and ship within 48 hours of the drop. Coffee orders typically arrive in 3-5 business days across the EU; equipment orders ship in 1-2 business days.

Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on weight and destination. Free shipping thresholds are published on the relevant region page.

Risk passes to you on delivery. If the package arrives visibly damaged, refuse it or document the damage (photograph the parcel before opening) and email us within 48 hours.

05 — Right of withdrawal (consumer law)

If you are a consumer in the EU, you have 14 days from delivery to withdraw from the contract without giving a reason, under Directive 2011/83/EU. To exercise this right, email us at contact@arhetyp.ro within the 14-day window.

Exception for coffee: roasted coffee is a perishable good. Once a sealed bag has been opened, it cannot be returned. Unopened bags can be returned within 14 days of delivery — we refund the product price but not the return shipping.

Equipment: returnable within 14 days if unused and in original packaging. If you've used the machine and it's no longer in resaleable condition, we may deduct a value-loss fee proportionate to use.

06 — Defects & legal warranty

Under EU consumer law, you have a 2-year statutory warranty against defects of conformity for new goods (Directive 2019/771). If a machine, grinder, or accessory fails within this period through no fault of yours, we will repair, replace, or refund it at our discretion.

Coffee freshness: we guarantee freshness only within the "best before" date printed on the bag. If a bag arrives stale, mouldy, or in the wrong condition, email us and we will replace it or refund.

07 — Refunds

Refunds for valid returns and withdrawals are issued to the original payment method within 14 days of receipt of the returned goods (or proof of postage in transit cases).

08 — Subscriptions

If you sign up for a coffee subscription, the first bag is charged on the day of order and ships in the next roast cycle. Subsequent renewals are charged on the same day of each month (or each two months, depending on cadence chosen) and ship in the next available batch.

You can pause or cancel a subscription at any time from your account or by emailing us. Cancellations take effect immediately if processed at least 24 hours before the next charge date.

09 — B2B / wholesale

Wholesale customers (cafés, restaurants, retailers) operate under separate terms agreed in writing at account opening, which may modify pricing, payment terms (NET 30 etc.), minimum order quantities, and return policies. Where wholesale terms conflict with these consumer terms, wholesale terms prevail for that account.

10 — Liability

We are liable for direct damages arising from our breach of contract up to the price of the order in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages (loss of profit, lost time, etc.) except where such exclusion is prohibited by mandatory law.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, gross negligence, or for damages that cannot be excluded under Romanian or EU consumer law.

11 — Intellectual property

All content on arhetyp.ro — text, photographs, illustrations, brand elements — is owned by Arhetyp Coffee SRL and protected by copyright. You may share excerpts with attribution and a link back to the source. You may not republish full articles, reproduce product photography, or use our trademarks without written permission.

12 — Disputes & applicable law

These terms are governed by Romanian law and, for international consumers, the consumer-protection law of your country of residence where mandatory. Disputes are first addressed by direct contact at contact@arhetyp.ro.

Consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute-resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

Failing amicable resolution, disputes fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Bucharest, Romania, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rules in your country.

13 — Changes

We may revise these terms. Material changes are notified by email to active customers at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the shop after a revision constitutes acceptance.
